Effective date: 13 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how WallSplash ("WallSplash", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the WallSplash mobile app (the "App") on iOS and Android (app package id: com.wallsplash.app). WallSplash is operated by Aperon Labs, the studio of Haseeb Manzoor (sole proprietor). The App is free to use and requires no account, login, or sign-up. We have designed WallSplash to do as much as possible directly on your device. We do not maintain a server-side database of our users, and we do not collect personal information about you on our own servers. The short version: your photos never leave your device, your color history and favorites stay on your device, and the limited data that does leave your device (such as your IP address for an approximate location, or advertising information) goes to the third-party services described below — not to us. Please read this policy together with the privacy policies of those third parties.
We want to be upfront and honest. The most important points are below; the rest of this policy explains them in detail.
WallSplash's core feature detects the color of a wall using your camera. The color analysis (k-means clustering of the image) happens entirely on your device. We do not upload your photos, we do not send them to any server, and we do not store them beyond a transient local sample that is used only to perform the analysis. No photo ever leaves your device.
If you prefer, you can choose an existing photo from your photo library to analyze instead of using the camera. This is optional. Any photo you select is processed the same way — entirely on your device — and nothing is uploaded.
From this on-device analysis the App produces results such as the exact HEX code, the closest named paint color, harmonious palettes, paint-mixing guidance, and a Light Reflectance Value (LRV), and lets you preview the color in a styled room and via a custom color picker. All of this is generated on your device.
When you save or view colors, your color history and favorites are stored locally on your device (using AsyncStorage). This information is never uploaded to us or to any third party. It remains under your control and is removed when you clear your history or clear the App's data.
The "WallSplash Helper" is a questionnaire that suggests colors based on your answers. It runs fully on your device and is deterministic — your answers are processed locally to produce suggestions and are not sent to any server.
WallSplash does not use GPS and does not access your precise device location. Instead, to power the "paint stores near you" feature, the App estimates your city using IP-based geolocation through third-party services: ipwho.is, with ipapi.co as a fallback. To do this, your IP address is sent to these providers, and the App receives back an approximate city and coordinates, which are cached locally on your device.
This approximate location is detected once and reused. You can manually re-sync your approximate location in Settings, which is capped at 3 times.
To find nearby paint stores, the App queries OpenStreetMap's Overpass API using your approximate coordinates. No personal data beyond these coarse coordinates is sent for this lookup. Paint store data is © OpenStreetMap contributors and is made available under the Open Database License (ODbL).
The App includes a "Paint & color stories" news feed fetched from the public RSS feeds of design publishers (for example, Dezeen, Design Milk, and Apartment Therapy). When you tap a story, it opens in an in-app web view. The publisher's website, and any third parties it uses, may receive standard information associated with loading a web page (such as your IP address) and may apply their own privacy practices, which we do not control.
WallSplash is free and is supported by advertising served through Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads). The App may show banner, interstitial, app-open, and rewarded ads.
To serve and measure ads, AdMob may collect information such as your device Advertising ID, approximate (IP-based) location, and device and usage information. This data is processed by Google in accordance with Google's policies.
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, the App shows a Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent form, where you can make your advertising-privacy choices. You can change your ad-privacy consent at any time in Settings.
WallSplash does not use any separate analytics SDK beyond the Google ad SDK, and the App does not currently include a crash-reporting SDK.
The App uses Expo Updates to download JavaScript updates from Expo's servers, so we can deliver improvements and fixes. This involves standard device and update metadata used to deliver the correct update to your device.
Because most processing happens on your device, only limited data is shared with third parties, and only for the features described above. Depending on which features you use, the following third parties may receive data:
WallSplash is not directed at children. The advertising content rating is set to PG, and we set tagForChildDirectedTreatment to false. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, please contact us at the address below.
We take reasonable steps to protect information. All network requests made by the App use HTTPS, so data is encrypted while in transit. Because your photos, color history, and favorites are stored only on your device, their security also depends on the security of your device and your operating system (for example, your device passcode and OS protections). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to reduce risk wherever we can.
You have meaningful control over your information when using WallSplash:
When data is shared with the third-party services described in this policy (such as Google, the IP-geolocation providers, OpenStreetMap/Overpass, RSS publishers, and Expo), that data may be processed on servers located in countries other than your own, including countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those where you live. Each of these providers is responsible for its own handling of that data under its own privacy policy and applicable safeguards.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes to the App or to the third-party services it uses. When we make changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, make the updated policy available within the App or on our website. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
This Privacy Policy and any matter relating to it are governed by the laws of Pakistan, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
